ASAHP Announces Dr. Jon Williamson as President-Elect

Washington, D.C. – The Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP) announced today that Dr. Jon Williamson, PhD, FASAHP, Dean, School of Health Professions at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is the Association’s President Elect. ASAHP is the nation’s leading association focused on advancing health professions education. The association represents nearly 130 institutions and professional members across the U.S. that educate the healthcare workforce of the future.

Dean Williamson will assume his new role in October 2025, at the conclusion of ASAHP’s 2025 Annual Conference in Indianapolis, IN.

Current ASAHP President Craig R. Jackson, MSW, JD, FASAHP, Dean of the School of Allied Health Professions at Loma Linda University said, “ASAHP will be in excellent hands under the leadership of Dean Williamson. I have no doubt that he will guide this association seamlessly into its next chapter while championing efforts to modernize health professions education to address the increasing need for competent healthcare providers.”  

Dean Williamson said, “I am both humbled and honored to be recognized by such a distinguished group of leaders dedicated to advancing the future of health professions education. My focus will be on working collaboratively to ensure ASAHP remains well positioned to continue to foster the next generation of health care professionals.” 

One of Dean Williamson’s priorities as President will be to address the unprecedented advancements in technology and the growing need to align educational programs with modern healthcare delivery. “Through strategic initiatives, ASAHP will help equip administrators, faculty and students with the knowledge, skills and resilience they’ll need to thrive in this rapidly evolving healthcare landscape,” Williamson added. During his tenure, he also plans to enhance member engagement, supporting ASAHP committees, and promote innovation and best practices for the health professions.
