Washington, D.C. – The Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP) recently recognized many higher education health professionals from across the country for their leadership, contributions and excellence in the fields of health sciences and health professions. The awards were presented at ASAHP’s annual conference “Blazing the Trail: Navigating the Changing Landscape of Higher Education and Health Professions,” which took place October 8-10, 2024 at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia.
“We were proud to recognize these members for their commitment to excellence in health professions education,” said ASAHP President Craig R. Jackson, MSW, JD, FASAHP, Dean of the School of Allied Health Professions at Loma Linda University. “Each award recipient has not only elevated the performance of their institutions but has also had a profound impact on ASAHP’s mission and the broader health professions education landscape. They are shaping the future of healthcare and improving the quality of care for patients.”
At a ceremony on the first day of the conference the following awards were presented:
Legacy of Excellence Award

Each year, the winner of an award named after the Association’s second President and the founder of the Journal of Allied Health in 1972 is selected. Candidates for this honor are the authors of the 46 original research articles and commentary papers that appeared in issues of the Journal of Allied Health during the period Fall 2023 to Summer 2024. Based on an average of their respective scores, the paper ranked highest was Dr. Yvonne Colgrove and Dr. Jason Lee Rucker’s “Beginning with the End in Mind: A Product Evaluation of Integrated Clinical Education Courses” that appeared in the Fall 2023 issue.
