Washington, D.C. – The Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP) announced today that its 2023 Annual Conference will take place October 17-19, 2023 at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida. This year’s conference theme, “Moving Forward – Emerging Practices and Lasting Changes in Higher Education and Health Professions,” will examine trends and challenges unique to institutions and professional members across the country that educate the healthcare workforce of the future. Health profession educators, clinicians, and industry partners will engage with peers on these key issues to help prepare students entering the health professions workforce and to prepare for anticipated industry growth. Conference keynote speakers will include:
Carole Tucker, PT, PhD, Chair, NASEM Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education Planning Committee on Artificial Intelligence in Health Professions Education, who will speak about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on health professions education.
Damon A. Williams, PhD, Strategic Diversity Leadership Expert, who will speak about anti-DEI state legislation and its impact on higher education leaders.
Russ Bailey, PT, MBA, President, Lifepoint Rehabilitation and Lifepoint Behavioral Health, who will speak about post-pandemic onboarding challenges for healthcare organizations.
Tina Whalen, PT, EdD, DPT, MPA, FASAHP, Emeritus Professor and Dean, University of Cincinnati College of Allied Health Sciences.
In addition to numerous speaker presentations and breakout discussion groups, the conference will also feature presentations from research grant recipients from previous years who will share new knowledge about how public libraries can be used to expand health care access, new strategies for combating pediatric obesity, how VR technology can aid in emergency preparedness, how to overcome stigmas associated with Opioid Use Disorder, and how to better collaborate on care for migrant workers, among other topics. Recipients of ASAHP’s Award for Institutional Excellence and Innovation in Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Health Care will also share insights at the conference.
