ASAHP joined the American Council on Education and nearly 100 organizations in a letter to Congressional Committee leaders them to prioritize the mental and behavioral health needs of students in higher education as the committees develop mental health legislation. The groups call for Congress to update and dramatically expand the authorization level for the Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant program for higher education. The letter also encourages Congress to update the Public Health Service Act and the Higher Education Act to support holistic and evidence-based practices that meet students’ mental health needs.
