COMMUNITY COLLEGES ROLE IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Preparing students to transfer to four-year colleges is a central mission for some community colleges. These institutions can serve as an important source of students for higher degree programs in allied health. A national commitment to increasing postsecondary educational attainment has made community colleges the focus of many federal and state policy initiatives. A report from the Urban Institute focuses on key variables that differentiate community colleges and discusses their significance for students.
