KNOWLEDGE GAPS INHIBIT HEALTH IT DEVELOPMENT FOR COMPLEX PATIENTS

Health information technology (HIT) holds enormous promise for improving the coordination of care delivered to high-need patients and producing savings for the U.S. health system. The types of HIT tools available, however, are limited, and obstacles hinder the development of new ones. An article recently published online in the American Journal of Managed Care is based on interviews of experts, government officials, academics, and clinicians to define these obstacles and determine a path forward.
