Interview with Cynthia Hughes-Harris, PhD, FASAHP

On February 8, we will be interviewing Cynthia Hughes-Harris, PhD, OTR, FAOTA, FASAHP. Dr. Hughes-Harris is Dean for the School of Allied Health Sciences at Florida A&M University.

In honor of Black History Month and the 2022 theme of black health and wellness, ASAHP will be interviewing different ASAHP members each week to discuss their work and the importance of diversity & inclusion as it relates to Higher Education and the Health Professions. We'll be discussing many timely topics including

  • The root of causes of health inequity among minority populations and within student communities;

  • How universities can provide support systems and pathways for minority students to achieve professional success;

  • Curriculum adjustments to reflect cultural sensitivity;

  • Recruitment efforts so that faculty and students better represent the general population; and

  • The importance of forming partnerships with community health organizations.

The live interviews will take place each Tuesday of February at 1pm EST on ASAHP's Facebook page.
